The U.S.-Canada trade war has entered Stage Three—the part where Trump says, “We’re done.”



Trump is done letting Canada run a billion-dollar surplus with the U.S., and he’s making that very clear. If Canada won’t accept fairness and symmetry as the new standard going forward, they may need to find a new business partner.

The other thing to remember about this war is that there are two laws, canons, or protocols that we haven't seen before.



Under no circumstances will there be American troops on the ground, given the misadventures in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We will not attack dual-use civilian-military infrastructure if it means inflicting pain on the Iranian people.

I think a good description of 2026, culturally, economically, socially, and politically, is that we are in a modern medieval world.

In a retort to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's refusal of a recent trade deal with the United States, President Trump renamed Lake Ontario to "Lake America."

This political renaming of natural landmarks and wonders is not original to Trump. Barack Obama renamed Mount McKinley. Earl Warren's name was stripped from the Legal Institute. Even hundreds of years ago, Romans renamed landmarks.

Trump is only reacting to a long tradition, one mostly embarked on by the Left in recent years.

Canada’s growing confrontation with the United States is about much more than just tariffs. Trade imbalances, Chinese goods entering the American market through Canada, taxes on U.S. companies, and Mark Carney’s political strategy have pushed relations with Washington to a new low.

At the same time, Canada faces weak economic growth, enormous immigration pressures, separatist movements in Alberta and Quebec, and continued dependence on the United States for its defense. Picking a fight with America will not solve those problems.
